10 Months Old and Back on Track

img_3216Margo turned 10 months old on January 20. Just two more months until her first birthday. Pretty crazy.

Yesterday, Jake and Margo make an unexpected visit to the pediatrician, where Margo was weighed again. She gained nearly 1.5 pounds in the last month (more than her total weight gain for the previous three months), bringing her to 17 lbs, 4.75 oz. Maia and Jake are very relieved that Margo has regained her appetite and has grown so much. Dr. Landman also reported that Margo’s first top tooth is making its way in, joining the two on the bottom.

Unfortunately, the reason for the unexpected visit to the pediatrician was due to another ear infection. The good news is that Margo’s ear was only slightly infected and Dr. Landman thinks the infection may clear up without antibiotics.

Here are some pictures of Margo enjoying life as a 10-month-old.

Say Cheese

Maia’s been trying to get Margo to eat finger food for several weeks. Last night marked the first time that Margo actually fed herself some of the food, instead of just throwing 100% of it onto the floor. Okay, so 75% still ended up on the floor, but it’s progress in the right direction.

Last weekend, Jake, Maia, and Margo had a family photo shoot with Tim Nicholls of Round Top Photography. The photo shoot was a Christmas present from Elaine, Richard, Linda, and Barnett. Here are a few of our favorite shots:

Standing All the Time

Margo has suddenly decided that standing is her new favorite position and she does it all the time–pulling herself up on her activity table, the coffee table, the media cabinet…basically anything that is the right height for her.

While Maia and Jake had seen Margo pull herself up to standing a few times in the past, her passion for this activity took on new intensity in the last few days. It all started on Thursday when Maia arrived to pick Margo up from daycare. Margo was standing up, holding onto the gate that separates the infant area from the waddler/toddler area. She was smiling and looked so proud of herself. Since then, she has been pulling herself up at every opportunity. When she is done standing, she simply lets go and plops down on her butt.

Here is video of Margo standing up, sitting down, and crawling away. If you listen closely, you can also hear Margo making her new favorite sound. It goes something like “tika, tika, tika, tika.”
