In addition to taking her first steps on Tuesday, May 19, Margo also had another first that same week — her first wedding. Maia, Jake, and Margo all traveled to Nashville, TN, to attend Eli and Adrianne’s wedding over the Memorial Day Weekend. It was a lovely trip, though Maia and Jake have definitely decided that traveling with Margo is a lot harder than traveling without her (not least of all, because of the huge amount of stuff that is required to travel anywhere with a one-year-old).
Margo’s favorite parts of the trip included anywhere where there was a large crowd of people (such as the airplane, restaurants, and any wedding event) because this gave her nearly unlimited opportunities to say “hi” and wave to people.
Some other highlights of the trip included:
- A lovely walk at the Shelby Bottoms Greenway.
- Putting Margo to bed in the hotel room, leaving Maia and Jake (who weren’t quite ready to go to bed yet) reading in the hallway outside the bathroom.
- Several meals at Fido, a casual restaurant near Vanderbilt University (the Avidons apparently like to find one restaurant to eat at repeatedly when traveling and had three meals in three days at Fido).
- A lovely rehearsal dinner picnic at Edwin Warner Park, with fabulous Las Paletas popsicles.
- And, of course, Eli & Adrianne’s beautiful wedding.

Re traveling with Margo, at least there are 2 of you and only 1 of her! I am in awe when I see 1 parent with 2 or more kids; or 2 parents with 2 or 3 or 4 kids (which I saw very recently). I don’t know how they do it. Anytime the parent is outnumbered, watch out!

Chris and I have been known to play cards in the bathroom while Sander was sleeping in the hotel room. Made my smile to read your post.
